About Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest base camp trek is one of the most popular base camp treks in Nepal. This trek offers the great Everest Himalaya and more from this region. The trails along the Everest Base Camp Trekking are not your simple trekking route through the Himalayas but the ultimate journey which stands at the apex of all trekking routes. Surrounded by the mesmerizing Himalayas all around the journey takes us to the mesmerizing viewpoint of Kalapatthar which is perhaps the best viewpoint to witness the majestic Himalayas drenched golden with the rising sun. The Everest Kalapatthar Trek also explores the Sherpa villages and historic Buddhist monasteries to offer the mesmerizing charisma of the Everest realm.

The trail-head of one of the most popular trekking in Nepal begins at Lukla which is also home to one of the most thrilling airstrips you can land on. From there, the journey heads towards Phakding following the forested trail to reach Namche Bazaar. Taking our first of the two acclimatization days allocated for the journey at Namche, we head towards Tengboche better known for its monastery and the famous Mani Rimdu Festival. Guided by the Himalayas, the trail in the EBC region trek continues through changing landscapes towards Dingboche, where we take the last of our acclimatization days. The journey continues through snowy rugged trail heading towards Lobuche finally landing at the foot of the world’s tallest mountain. Celebrating the mesmerizing Himalayan views as seen from Kalapatthar we descend to the herder’s settlement at Gorakshep before descending towards Pheriche which then leads to Namche Bazaar. The trail of the Everest base camp trek ends once again back at Namche where the familiar thrill of the Namche airstrip awaits. The months belonging to pre-monsoon (February, March, April, and May) and post-monsoon (late September, October, November, and December) are considered the best time for Everest base camp trek.

Best Time to Trek

We recommend autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) to trek to the Everest base camp. You may not have holidays during these times and still would like to do the trek to base camp, so still, you may do during begging and the end of winter. But you need to have very warm equipment. Trekking in summer (June-August) is not good.

Still, until mid-September and end of May are not highly recommended timings because there will be fewer chances of the flight to Lukla due to the bad weather.

The chance of flight cancellations to Lukla from Kathmandu and to Kathmandu from Lukla is a common factor at any time of the year. So having some extra days for the Everest base camp trek will support to rescheduled the trek itinerary.
